BJP still debates over alliance with YSRC and TD

BJP still debates over post-poll alliance with YSRC or pre-poll alliance with TD.

Hyderabad: The BJP’s national leadership is still debating whether it should go in for a post-poll alliance with the YSR Congress or a pre-poll alliance with the Telugu Desam in Andhra Pradesh.

YSR Congress president Y.S. Jagan Mohan Reddy has already conveyed his readiness to have a post-poll pact with the party.
According to YSRC sources, Jagan Mohan Reddy had sent word to BJP’s prime ministerial candidate Narendra Modi of his willingness to join hands and has also personally conveyed his intentions to the BJP’s national president Rajnath Singh.
“We cannot have a pre-poll alliance with the BJP due to the Christian and Muslim minority vote, but we will certainly support the NDA after the polls,” Jagan Mohan Reddy told the BJP president in Delhi recently.
The post-poll offer Jagan has made to the BJP leadership is intended to address two concerns the party is now facing ahead of the elections.
Should the BJP ally with the TD instead, that will mean stiff competition for the YSRC, especially in Seem-andhra. Surveys by the YSRC give the party an edge over others, forecasting 20 plus seats in Seemandhra, which has a total of 25 LS seats.
