After playing very realistic roles in 'Life Of Pi' and 'Lunchbox', Irrfan Khan will play a mainstream commercial role in his upcoming film 'Gunday'.
A source says, “The idea was to bring Irrfan out of the realistic zone and mould him into an out-and-out commercial role where despite being an antagonist, he had to be nothing short of a hero.”
That is why the makers of the film had planned a complete makeover for Irrfan. Says director Ali Abbas Zafar, “We wanted to make Irrfan look more massy, flamboyant and mainstream. The change reflects in his dialogue delivery as well.”
The director adds, “He has played very strong characters in the past, but for 'Gunday', I wanted him to look more heroic and stylised”
About his role in the film Irrfan says, “All of us are gunday in the film. If Ranveer and Arjun consider themselves as the bad guys, I am not far behind. I am a gunda for them and in my own way.”
