Thiruvananthapuram: During the next academic year, the textbooks of the state syllabus schools will be printed with the logo of Ammu, the great hornbill which is the mascot of the 35th national games to be held in the State.
This is part of the efforts to popularise the message of the national games to the maximum number of people. The decision was taken by the curriculum committee of the General Education Department by Education Minister P.K. Abdu Rabb.
The decision has been conveyed to the State Council for Education, Research and Training (SCERT) which is the publisher of the school text books. The logo of Ammu will have the motto “health, discipline and honour” printed at the bottom of the picture.
As part of the effort to popularise the message of the national games, a play titled ‘Kalikkunna Kuttikkal-kkayi Bharatham Kathirikkunnu’ which means that the “nation is waiting for children who play.’ The play has so far covered 50 schools in the state.
