Lucknow: Samajwadi Party workers went on rampage at a toll plaza on the Lucknow-Faizabad highway on Saturday after the attendant asked them to pay money for using the route.
The CCTV footage shows the party workers brutally attacking the toll booth worker with rifle butts.
The footage, aired on TV channels, shows two SP workers hitting the attendant inside his cabin after the latter said that everyone including politicians need to pay money for using the toll plaza.
The attack was allegedly led by SP leader Bhagwati Yadav. The toll booth worker has suffered serious injuries in the attack and his hand has been fractured.
A fortnight ago, SP workers had manhandled the toll plaza workers on the Lucknow-Kanpur highway, but no action was taken against them.
The incident comes days after SP chief Mulayam Singh Yadav asked his cadre to remain disciplined.
