BMW X7: The BMW X7 is the biggest SUV in BMW’s portfolio - globally unveiled in October 2018 and India launch imminent in early 2019. X7 expected to launch in top-spec M50d variant with price of over Rs 1 crore, will rival Merc GLS, Audi Q7 and Land Rover Discovery. Expected launch - April 05, 2019.
Audi A8: Audi has confirmed that it will launch the fourth-gen A8 in India this year. Like its predecessor, the new A8 will only be available in its long wheelbase (LWB) configuration. Under the bonnet, the India-spec Audi A8L is likely to be offered with a choice of 3.0-litre turbocharged V6 engines. The 3.0-litre TDI diesel engine produces 286PS of power, while the 3.0-litre TFSI petrol unit develops 340PS. One of these derivatives could also receive mild-hybrid capabilities. Price expected 1.0 cr. Expected launch - April 15, 2019.
Porsche 911: Porsche has unveiled the new 911 in the Carrera S and Carrera 4S variant which are powered by the 3.0-litre turbocharged flat six engine. The latter now puts out 450PS and 530Nm of torque. There is a new 8-speed PDK gearbox to send that power to the wheels and it allows the AWD Carrera 4S to do 0-100kph in 3.6 seconds while the RWD Carrera S variants takes 3.7 seconds. That makes these 992 911s 0.4 seconds quicker than their previous iterations. price 1.5 crore. Expected launch- July 2019.
Land Rover Range Rover Evoque: The current-gen Evoque on sale in India is powered by a 2.0-litre petrol engine that produces 240PS and 340Nm of torque, and a 2.0-litre diesel engine that makes 180PS and 430Nm. Both engines come mated to a 9-speed automatic gearbox. The new Evoque is also likely to be powered by the same Ingenium family of petrol and diesel engines with the addition of mild-hybrid tech. The current Range Rover Evoque is priced between Rs 52.06 lakh to Rs 62.96 lakh. There’s also a convertible variant that’s priced at Rs 69.53 lakh (all prices are ex-showroom India). We expect the second-gen Evoque to be launched in August-2019.
Jaguar E Pace: The British carmaker has now introduced a smaller SUV called the E-Pace. The E-Pace is equipped with a 10-inch touchscreen infotainment system that behaves like a smartphone and a 12.3-inch TFT display in the instrument panel which can display maps in 3D. All engines displace 2.0-litre in a 4-cylinder configuration, and while the petrol engines offer 250PS and 300PS, the diesel ones are rated at 150PS, 180PS and 240PS. The engines will be coupled to either a 9-speed automatic or a 6-speed manual. Expected launch - June 2019.
Jeep Wrangler: Jeep is expected to launch the new fourth-gen Wrangler (JL series) in the country soon, probably around the upcoming festive season. The Wrangler made its global debut at the 2017 LA Motor Show in November last year and is already on sale in the USA. Being a CBU, as before, the Wrangler will soon be introduced in India. The new Jeep Wrangler comes with significant upgrades to its equipment list as well as powertrain options. The India-spec Wrangler is expected to come with a new 2.2-litre diesel and a 2.0-litre turbocharged petrol engine, both mated to an 8-speed automatic transmission. Expected launch - April 05, 2019.
