Upcoming cars in India 2018 with expected prices, launch dates
The year 2018 began with a bang thanks to Auto Expo 2018, and has continued to be so till now. But if you thought that was it then you’re clearly in for a surprise. The remaining 3 months are set to see some wacky new entrants, resurrections and mid-cycle facelifts. Jeep Wrangler 2018: Jeep is expected to launch the new fourth-gen Wrangler (JL series) in the country soon, probably around the upcoming festive season. The Wrangler made its global debut at the 2017 LA Motor Show in November last year and is already on sale in the USA. In Europe, it will go on sale around September 2018, while it went on sale in China and Russia from July 2018. Being a CBU, as before, the Wrangler will soon be introduced in India. The India-spec Wrangler is expected to come with a new 2.2-litre diesel and a 2.0-litre turbocharged petrol engine, both mated to an 8-speed automatic transmission. Expected price Rs 65 lakh.
Toyota Camry: Toyota has introduced the 2018 Camry Hybrid with a few updates. The hybrid sedan now comes with an all-black cabin along with a new three-spoke steering wheel and tan-brown leather upholstery. Recently in February 2018, Toyota resumed the Camry Hybrid's production in the country after hiatus of nearly four months. Expected price Rs 29.75 – Rs 37.22 lakh.
Mercedes-Benz E-Class All-Terrain: Mercedes-Benz unveiled the E-Class All Terrain at the Auto Expo 2018. The jacked-up version of the E-Class estate gets a two-fin front grille with a large three-pointed star tucked in the centre. It offers a maximum ground clearance of up to 156mm. Powering the All Terrain is a 2.0-litre, inline-4 cylinder diesel engine which pumps out 194PS of max power and 400Nm of peak torque. Expected to launch by mid-2018, the E-Class All Terrain will be priced north of Rs 65 lakh.
Porsche Cayenne: Porsche has unveiled the third generation of its flagship SUV, the Cayenne. At the time of launch it will be available in two variants - Cayenne and the Cayenne S. Both will be powered by a newly developed V6 petrol engine, which will be coupled to an all-new 8-speed. While the standard Cayenne will feature a turbocharged, 3.0-litre V6 petrol engine producing 340PS/450Nm, the 'S' variant will be powered by a twin-turbocharged, 2.9-litre V6 engine generating 440PS/550Nm. Porsche claims that the standard Cayenne can complete the 0-100kmph sprint in 5.9 seconds and reach a top speed of 245kmph. Expected price Rs 93.07 lakh – Rs 2.35 crore.
Nissan X-Trail: June 07, 2016: Nissan has revealed the updated third-generation X-Trail for the European market. The X-Trail facelift, which is also known as the Rogue in the USA, made its world premiere there in September last year. The X-Trail facelift has received several aesthetic changes inside-out, but mostly to its exterior. Mechanically, Nissan will only launch the hybrid version of the SUV in India. It is powered by a 2.0-litre naturally aspirated petrol engine coupled to an electric motor and the powertrain is mated to a CVT (continuously variable transmission) automatic. Expected price Rs 22.6 lakh.
BMW X2: BMW has unveiled their latest crossover in the form of X2 which borrows design cues from the elder sibling X6 and the relatively newer X4 SUV. BMW has set the launch month for the crossover in March, 2018 without revealing which market it is for. There will be two engines on offer which include a 2.0-litre diesel and a 2.0-litre petrol. The diesel engine will be available in two states of tune - 190PS/400Nm and 231PS/450Nm. It will be mated to an 8-speed Steptronic transmission. The petrol engine will deliver 192 PS of maximum power with 280 Nm of peak torque. We expect a pricing of around Rs 40 lakh to Rs 55 lakh (ex-showroom Delhi) for the BMW X2.
Ford Aspire 2018: Ford Aspire facelift will go on sale in India on 4 October 2018. The facelifted sub-4m sedan will feature updated aesthetics and a new petrol engine. Ford Aspire 2018 Engine and Transmission: The Ford Aspire Facelift is expected to borrow Ford’s new 1.2-litre 3-cylinder petrol engine from the Freestyle that puts out 96PS and 120Nm. The 1.5-litre diesel will be carried forward. There will be a new 5-speed manual. Ford Aspire 2018 will get Ford’s new, more powerful 1.5-litre 3-cylinder petrol (123PS/150Nm) with 6-speed torque converter automatic in place of the current 1.5-litre 4-cylinder petrol (112PS/136Nm) and 6-speed dual-clutch combo. Expected price Rs 6 lakh.
