Hyderabad: Established in 2017, Singapore-headquartered Princeton Digital Group (PDG) with a presence in five countries is a market leader in Asia's hyper-scale data centre market with 20 data centres having 600 MW capacity.
The data centre (MU1) at Airoli, Navi Mumbai, provides 48 MW of critical IT capacity across two buildings and has achieved IGBC platinum, which is the highest standard of green buildings certification, said Vipin Shirsat, managing director, PDG, India.
In an exclusive interview with Deccan Chronicle, Shirsat said that the data centre has been powered up to 40 per cent by renewable energy and would need minimal quantities of water.
He said that the centre would deliver secure and scalable capacity to hyperscalers – large cloud, content, commerce and fintech companies.
Built to deliver global standards, Shirsat said that with MU1 the company would be a Pan-Asia data centre operator that is focused on creating sustainable value and being an enabler of digital growth.
Shirsat said that PDG has plans to expand across India and is committed to help young engineering talent emerge as leaders. He said that PDG had conducted surveys in Chennai and Pune, which it would enter in the near future.
He said that the company had six lakh litres of diesel as standby for their generators in case the dedicated substation supplying power developed a glitch. The building has five lakh litres of chillers on the rooftop for emergency use.
Commenting on partners for data centre, he said that the company was backed by blue-chip institutional investment firms like Warburg Pincus, Ontario Teachers' Pension Plan (OTPP), Mubadala Investment Company (Mubadala) while several others are ready to enter into an agreement. He said the data centre would be fully operational by next year, which was a record in itself.
