Farmers Told To Go For Early Sowing For Kharif
Early sowing would allow harvest completion by October- The Collector

VISAKHAPATNAM: With the monsoon's early arrival, Vizianagaram collector Dr B.R. Ambedkar announced that the district is ready for an early start to the Kharif season. He urged farmers to begin sowing immediately to capitalize on the initial rains.
During a video conference with tahsildars and mandal agriculture officers on Tuesday, the collector said the district administration has ensured adequate supplies of paddy seeds and fertilizers are in place in farmer service centres and government godowns to support the farmers for the season.
The collector said the early sowing would allow harvest completion by October, thereby avoiding potential cyclone threats typically experienced in November and it would also facilitate a timely start to Rabi season.
The district administration issued identity cards to approximately 16,500 tenant farmers, aiming to provide them loans worth `150 crores. The collector has tasked rural development officers with conducting daily reviews to ensure the distribution of identity cards is completed by the first week of June.
He said under the Annadata Sukhibhava scheme, the details of 489,116 farmers were currently being verified and the beneficiaries list will be completed within two days by approving any pending applications.
The collector also emphasised the importance of updating and correcting farmers' Aadhaar details to ensure seamless benefit delivery.
