Contrary to recent reports, Bollywood actress Vidya Balan has not been cast in director Puri Jagannath’s upcoming film featuring Tamil star Vijay Sethupathi. A reliable source has dismissed these claims as baseless.
“Vidya Balan has never been approached for any role in Puri Jagannath’s film. These reports are completely false and unfounded,” the source clarified.
However, the source did confirm that veteran Bollywood actress Tabu will play a significant role alongside Vijay Sethupathi in the film. “This is a performance-oriented role, and Tabu was the first and only choice. She loved the script and is giving it her best,” the source added.
Puri Jagannath has a history of working with Bollywood actresses, having previously cast Ameesha Patel in Badri, Kangana Ranaut in Ek Niranjan, and Ayesha Takia in Super. His continued collaboration with leading ladies from Bollywood underscores his penchant for featuring strong female characters.
Meanwhile, Vidya Balan was also rumored to be part of another major project, Akhanda 2, alongside Nandamuri Balakrishna. The two had earlier shared screen space in Kathanayakudu, which sparked interest among fans. However, the source firmly denied these speculations as well. “Vidya was never considered for Akhanda 2. These rumors have died down now,” he concluded.
