Varanasi: SS Rajamouli Reacts to James Cameron and Avatar Comparisons

In a recent interview, director SS Rajamouli addressed comparisons between Varanasi and James Cameron's Avatar. He felt honored but humbly rejected direct equivalence, calling Cameron a "master" while describing himself as still a "student."
The RRR maker teased that the Mahesh Babu-starring behemoth includes 25 minutes of mythological sequences, though he couldn't reveal more details yet.
Priyanka Chopra has returned to Indian cinema after a long hiatus with Varanasi. She will be seen playing the role of Mandakini in the film, which also stars Mahesh Babu and Prithviraj Sukumaran.
The official title of the film was unveiled at the Globetrotter event held in Hyderabad on November 15, 2025.
