The Paradise Budget Set to Cross Rs 160 Crore?

The strategy, insiders say, was to create a pan-global film capable of expanding Nani's reach beyond his traditional audience and establishing him as a major international face.

Nani's ambitious action spectacle The Paradise is reportedly turning into the costliest film of his career. Industry sources claim the project's budget has already exceeded its original estimates and is now expected to cross the Rs 160-crore mark, reflecting a growing trend of budget overruns in Tollywood.

"The film is likely to cross a budget of Rs 160 crore, making it the most expensive project in Nani's career," says an industry source. "Escalating production costs and extended schedules have become quite common for big-ticket Telugu films."

From the very beginning, Nani is said to have viewed The Paradise as a game-changing project. Impressed by director Srikanth Odela's vision, the actor reportedly encouraged producer Sudhakar Cherukuri to mount the film on a much grander scale than what is usually associated with his market.

"Nani was convinced that the film had the potential to take him into a bigger commercial league. The producer also backed the vision wholeheartedly and is reportedly investing his highest-ever production budget on the project," the source adds.

The strategy, insiders say, was to create a pan-global film capable of expanding Nani's reach beyond his traditional audience and establishing him as a major international face.

However, the ambitious scale has come at a price. Sources indicate that the production has already exhausted most of its planned budget while shooting is still underway, with additional expenditure expected before completion.

Adding to its scale, The Paradise is slated for release not only in Telugu, Tamil, Kannada, Malayalam, Hindi and Bengali, but also in English and Spanish—an unusually wide multilingual rollout for a Telugu film. Trade observers believe the extensive release strategy reflects the makers' confidence in taking the film to a global audience.
