The ongoing power struggle within the Telugu Film and TV Dancers and Dance Directors Association (TFTDDA) has taken a serious legal turn, with a court putting a stop to the General Body meeting scheduled for September 13.
According to reports, the Kukatpally 2nd Additional Junior Civil Judge Court issued an interim injunction restraining the proposed General Body meeting. The court also barred the creation or use of forged documents and letterheads in the name of the association.
The order further prevents anyone from issuing letters to banks or other authorities using the association’s name until further orders.
The dispute involves two rival factions — one led by association president V V Sumalatha, wife of choreographer Jani Master, and the other led by Raghu Master. The tussle over control of the association has been continuing for several months, with both sides questioning the other’s authority and decisions.
The latest legal battle reportedly stems from allegations that a meeting held on August 30 was conducted without following the association’s rules. Another General Body meeting was subsequently planned for September 13 at a hotel in Indira Nagar.
After examining the material placed before it, including police complaints, the court issued the interim order and served notices to the respondents. The matter has been posted for further hearing on October 12.
For now, the September 13 meeting cannot be held. The court’s intervention has effectively put the latest move in the TFTDDA power struggle on hold, leaving both factions to settle the dispute through the legal process.
