Telugu Producers Council Turns Lucky for Blockbusters?

A source claims that the Telugu Film Producers Council has turned into something of a lucky charm for Tollywood films, with several movies that registered their titles with the council and completed their censor formalities going on to score big at the box office in recent months.

“Whether it is mere coincidence or otherwise, Telugu films that register with the council seem to be working exceptionally well at the box office,” the source says. He points out that recent blockbusters such as Maa Inti Bangaram, Korean Konagaraju and Irumudi received an overwhelming response from audiences and performed strongly at the box office.

“These three films alone have reportedly earned over Rs 100 crore in share in Andhra Pradesh and Telangana. So, the registrations with the council seem to be turning lucky,” he adds.

Interestingly, blockbuster Kalki 2898 AD had also followed the same process before emerging as a Rs 1,000-crore-plus worldwide grosser. The council registers film titles and assists producers in completing censor formalities without unnecessary hurdles.

The council has also been actively involved in resolving industry-related issues. Recently, it stepped in to resolve the title dispute surrounding S.S. Rajamouli’s Varanasi after holding discussions with the concerned parties, eventually clearing the way for the title.

The source says the council also works to protect producers’ interests and coordinates with the Movie Artists Association whenever issues arise between producers, actors and technicians, helping resolve disputes through discussions.

When contacted, T. Prasanna Kumar, secretary, Telugu Film Producers Council acknowledged the recent success of films registered with the council. “We are very happy about it. We hope every producer makes good money and recovers their investment. Our council stands for the welfare and well-being of producers,” he said.
