In a freewheeling chat, versatile actress Shruti Haasan opened up about her idea of love, marriage and parenting.
Shruti Haasan has always been candid about her views on personal and professional life, and in a recent podcast with YouTuber Ranveer Allahbadia, she once again impressed fans with her honesty. In an open conversation, the Salaar actor spoke about love, marriage, her relationship status, and the comfort she has found in being alone.
Shruti made it clear that she is currently single and not seeing anyone. She added that she loves her the most right now and enjoys solitude while explaining the reason why she is not married yet. “I am petrified by the idea of marriage. I have no fear in saying that. I have worked so hard in my life to be my own person that the idea of attaching it to a piece of paper feels really scary to me. That's it. But I believe in commitment, and I believe in loyalty, and I believe in all those things marriage is supposed to represent. I can do that on my own, and I don’t need a piece of paper,” she asserted.
Shruti talked about how relationships today are often born out of a fear of loneliness rather than genuine compatibility. “How many times do we want a partner because we are feeling lonely? And how many times do we want them just because we have the space to incorporate them as a value addition into our lives? What I am working on is solitude, not calling it loneliness.”
Shruti also opened up about her previous breakup, saying, “I love having someone, and I would love to have cuddles every day. I have lived alone pretty much most of my life since I was 18. So, I can substitute a relationship. That’s a big journey, to be on my own truly, which is a big personal change of last year.”
Shruti said that she wants to become a mother but doesn't want to be a single mother. “I have always wanted to be a mother, but I never wanted to be a single mother because two parents are important for a child. If you can work towards having two parents, that would be great.”
On the film front, Shruti Haasan will next be seen in the highly anticipated film Coolie. Starring Superstar Rajinikanth. The Lokesh Kanagaraj directorial is set for release on August 14.
