Sanjay Reminds Me of His Father Vijay, Says Chiranjeevi

Megastar Chiranjeevi attended the grand pre-release event of Sigma in Hyderabad as the chief guest and extended his support to debutant director Jason Sanjay, son of Tamil actor-turned-politician Vijay.

Recalling his first meeting with Sanjay, Chiranjeevi said the youngster reminded him of his father. “When he came to meet me, he reminded me of his father Vijay during 1993-94,” Chiranjeevi said. He also asked Sanjay whether he was more interested in acting or direction. “He said he was very much interested in writing and direction,” the megastar recalled.

Chiranjeevi also spoke about Sanjay’s family legacy in cinema. He pointed out that the youngster is carrying forward the creative legacy of his grandfather, S S Chandrasekar, who directed films such as Chattatniki Kallu Levu and Devantakudu, and his grandmother Shoba, who was involved in screenwriting.

“S S Chandrasekar was a very good director, while his wife Shoba garu penned scripts. Sanjay is taking forward the skills of his grandparents. He has inherited those genes and has turned director,” Chiranjeevi said.

The megastar further recalled Vijay’s journey in cinema and expressed his wishes for Sanjay’s directorial career. “I have seen his father Vijay rise to meteoric heights as an actor, and I wish Sanjay also achieves his goals as a director. I think his debut film Sigma will pave the way for his dreams,” he added.

Jason Sanjay, meanwhile, said that his father is excited to watch the film but has chosen not to participate in its promotional campaign due to his responsibilities as Tamil Nadu Chief Minister. Sanjay said he wanted the promotions to remain focused on the film and its team rather than on his father.
