Sai Pallavi Faces Trolling Over Hindi, Filmmaker Bats for Her Talent

Interestingly, Sai Pallavi had already clarified at the event that she wasn’t prepared to speak in Hindi, yet that did little to shield her from criticism online.

Sai Pallavi has found herself at the center of online criticism following a recent promotional event for Ek Din. The actress was trolled on social media for not speaking fluent Hindi, with some users questioning her readiness for major Hindi projects. A section even brought up her much-talked-about role as Sita in Ramayana while debating her language skills.

Interestingly, Sai Pallavi had already clarified at the event that she wasn’t prepared to speak in Hindi, yet that did little to shield her from criticism online.

Coming to her defense, director Hemanth Madhukar pointed out that judging an actor purely on language fluency overlooks their core strength. He emphasized that Sai Pallavi has consistently proven her acting prowess across multiple industries, and like any new skill, language takes time to master.

The debate also brings back a familiar argument in Indian cinema—language versus performance. Over the years, several actors have successfully worked across industries without complete command over the local language. "Many Bollywood actresses, for instance, have starred in Telugu films without fluency, yet connected with audiences through their performances. Acting, ultimately, is about expression rather than linguistic perfection," points out Hemanth. .

Earlier, Ek Din, which marks Sai Pallavi’s Hindi debut opposite Junaid Khan, has also faced its share of scrutiny. The film’s first-look poster drew criticism online, with some netizens alleging similarities to the poster of the Thai film One Day. Social media discussions, particularly on platforms like Reddit, questioned the lack of originality, with users claiming the design and even the title seemed directly inspired.

"Despite the noise, Sai Pallavi’s track record as one of the most compelling performers in Indian cinema remains intact, says Hemanth Madhukar and adds, "the actress is likely to let her work speak louder than the criticism, focusing on performance rather than the distractions surrounding it."
