Ramayana Collects Rs 4.5 Crore In Telugu States, Visuals Outshine Emotional Drama
For a Hindi film, the opening is considered encouraging, although the response among Telugu audiences has been somewhat mixed.

The much-hyped epic Ramayana has made a decent start at the Telugu box office, reportedly collecting around Rs 4.5 crore share across Andhra Pradesh and Telangana on its opening day. For a Hindi film, the opening is considered encouraging, although the response among Telugu audiences has been somewhat mixed.
“Going by the initial numbers, the film has collected approximately Rs 4.5 crore share in the Telugu states, which is a good opening for a Hindi film. However, the response has been divided. Yash steals the show as Raavan with his commanding screen presence, performance and charisma. Ranbir Kapoor is equally impressive as Lord Ram, though his portrayal is largely restrained. Sai Pallavi brings grace and subtlety to Sita, but a section of the Telugu audience expected a more emotionally powerful performance from her,” says a distributor.
He adds that the film's grand visual canvas has emerged as its biggest strength. “The stunning visuals, elaborate production design and impressive VFX have caught the audience's attention. The film offers a spectacular cinematic experience, particularly in its larger-than-life settings and action sequences. The technical brilliance is there for everyone to see, and several portions have received appreciation,” he points out.
However, the distributor feels that the film falls short when it comes to emotional storytelling. “The film scores high on visual grandeur but struggles to match it with emotional drama. Telugu audiences expected a deeply moving narrative from the makers of Dangal, with powerful character emotions and moments that would stay with them long after the film. Unfortunately, that emotional connect is missing in several portions. The makers have also placed considerable emphasis on war sequences and the heroic exploits of Lord Ram, but the emotional depth needed to elevate these episodes is not always there,” he says.
He feels that while the film has succeeded in creating a visually spectacular world, stronger storytelling and emotional engagement could have made it a more satisfying experience for Telugu viewers, he concludes.
