Prashanth Varma Bets Big on Mahakali After HanuMan Success

Mahakali is being shot with the IMAX format in mind to deliver a visually immersive cinematic experience.

Director Prashanth Varma is leaving no stone unturned to consolidate the success of HanuMan by backing another ambitious mythological spectacle, Mahakali. Expanding the Prasanth Varma Cinematic Universe (PVCU), the filmmaker is producing the magnum opus as its creator, while Pooja Kolluru is directing the film.

Conceived on a grand scale, Mahakali is being shot with the IMAX format in mind to deliver a visually immersive cinematic experience. The film has now entered the final stages of production, marking another significant milestone for Prashanth Varma's growing mythological universe.

The project has also wrapped the portions of its principal cast. Rohit Saraf, who plays the lead role, has completed shooting, while veteran actor Akshaye Khanna has also finished filming his role as Shukracharya.

Bhumi Shetty essays the powerful role of Goddess Mahakali, and her striking first-look poster generated considerable buzz among moviegoers. Akshaye Khanna's intense look as Shukracharya further heightened expectations for the film.

Featuring actors from multiple film industries, Mahakali reflects Prashanth Varma's vision of blending India's rich spiritual heritage with cutting-edge filmmaking technology. The filmmaker is aiming to deliver one of the most visually spectacular and prestigious mythological films in Indian cinema, while strengthening the foundation of the Prasanth Varma Cinematic Universe.
