In a recent report by Koimoi, Ashwin revealed that while the script for Kalki 2898 AD 2 is ready, the production team is working to coordinate the schedules of its four leading stars—Prabhas, Kamal Haasan, Amitabh Bachchan, and Deepika Padukone. Filming is expected to kick off in mid-2025, though specific dates are yet to be confirmed.

The director acknowledged the complexity of managing such a high-profile ensemble, stating, “We are currently finalizing bulk dates with the cast. Once everything aligns, we’ll be ready to roll.”

Producers Swapna Dutt and Priyanka Dutt also shared their excitement about the sequel. Initially, there were plans to begin filming by early 2025, but timelines have shifted. Now, production is likely to start in the latter half of the year.

“This time, there’s more excitement than nervousness,” Swapna Dutt said. “We’ve learned a lot from the first part and are approaching this sequel with greater planning and fresh energy. The audience’s love for Part I has fueled our determination to take Part 2 to new heights.”

The sequel will delve deeper into the gripping narrative established in Kalki 2898 AD. The story will focus on Supreme Yaskin, portrayed by Kamal Haasan, as he undertakes a critical mission. The journeys of Bhairava (Prabhas) and Ashwatthama (Amitabh Bachchan) will also be explored further as they fight to protect SUM-80 (Deepika Padukone) and her unborn child, believed to be the final divine avatar of Lord Vishnu, Kalki.

With an emphasis on emotional depth, mythological intrigue, and breathtaking visuals, the sequel promises to expand the epic universe introduced in the first part.

Meanwhile, Prabhas is juggling multiple high-profile projects. His upcoming film The Raja Saab is in post-production and slated for an April 2025 release. He is also set to star in Fauji, directed by Hanu Raghavapudi, and Spirit, helmed by Sandeep Reddy Vanga. Fans are also eagerly awaiting Salaar 2, which remains in the pre-production phase.
