Balakrishna and Nagarjuna Set for December Box Office Clash?

According to a distributor, a box-office clash between Nandamuri Balakrishna and Akkineni Nagarjuna will be interesting to watch out for this December. The two senior stars have usually avoided direct clashes at the ticket window, but this time, they appear ready to take on each other.

Nagarjuna has upped the pace regarding his landmark 100th film and recently released the title glimpse of the movie out of the blue. While the “King 100” glimpse has impressed audiences so far, there is still curiosity over whether it is the finalised title or if the makers will announce another title for the film.

Nagarjuna, however, is already preparing the ground for a grand release. While King 100 is scheduled to hit cinemas on December 24, Balakrishna’s Dada has also locked the same date. Adding to the competition, Shah Rukh Khan’s Bollywood film King is also slated for release on December 24, and a Telugu producer is reportedly trying to secure the film’s distribution rights for the Telugu states.

Amid these developments, Nagarjuna, who already has a good number of theatres available through the Annapurna distribution wing, is now reportedly signing agreements with other exhibitors as well. The idea is to secure a substantial number of screens for his landmark film.

Considering the competition at the Telugu box office during that period, a severe theatre crunch appears likely. Films like Fauzi are arriving on December 3, while the available screens are expected to be cleared within two to three weeks as Sankranthi releases, including Chiranjeevi’s Kaaka and Anil Ravipudi’s January 12 release, need those theatres.

That appears to be the reason Nagarjuna is moving early and securing some solid theatres for his landmark film. With Balakrishna’s Dada also arriving on the same day, December 24 could witness an interesting senior-star clash at the Telugu box office.
