Kaala not be released in Karnataka

In the past, the KFCC had threatened to cancel the release of Baahubali in Karnataka as well

Rajinikanth’s fans are eagerly awaiting the release of his upcoming film, Kaala. But there’s bad news in store for his fans in Karnataka — the film will not be released in the state in any language.

Karnataka and Tamil Nadu have been engaged in a fight over the sharing of Cauvery water for the past several decades, and Rajinikanth’s recent comments on the matter seem to have irked the Karnataka Film Chamber of Commerce (KFCC). “Protecting the interests of our state is paramount for us,” the KFCC has said in a statement. It has asked all exhibitors and distributors to withdraw from screening the film.

In the past, the KFCC had threatened to cancel the release of Baahubali in Karnataka as well, because actor Satyaraj made some comments on the sensitive Cauvery issue. But eventually, it allowed the film to be screened.

Let’s wait and watch if the makers of Kaala manage to persuade the KFCC to allow the film to be released there.
