Another new beginning for Raashi Khanna

While she agrees to being approached for a few Malayalam films, it seems like Raashi wants to take it slow.

Raashi Khanna is on a high! A little over three years after making a critically acclaimed debut in Oohalu Gusagusalade, the actress feels like a beginner all over again with her performance in her Malayalam debut, Villain, opening to rave reviews. In fact, for anyone who has followed Raashi’s work, they’d notice that this is probably the most acclaim she’s received after her debut film.

“I have to agree on that. Except for Supreme, I have mostly not got such wide appreciation for a performance even if the film was a hit. People did commend my looks, which is also very important for me as an actor. But somehow, it is always special to be praised for my craft over the way I look,” she says.

Interestingly, nostalgia surrounds Raashi as she is going back to the beginning with this film! “The appreciation is taking me back to the Oohalu... days. As an actor, I always seek roles that make an impact, irrespective of the duration of the role, and I am glad I succeeded with this film,” she shares, as she adds, “I was really looking forward to the release of Villain. I put in a lot of hard work and I am glad people are noticing basic things like how I synced perfectly with the Malayalam dialogues or that I came across as a Malayalam girl makes me feel wonderful.”

While she agrees to being approached for a few Malayalam films, it seems like Raashi wants to take it slow. “What more can an actor ask for than being surrounded by scripts to choose from? Whatever the language, I will make the best of the opportunities coming my way,” she concludes.
