Rajanikanth's Petta set for Sankranti release

The film is all set to hit the screens on January 10, both in Telugu and Tamil simultaneously.

Along with a few Telugu films, superstar Rajanikanth’s Petta is also in the Sankranti race. The film is all set to hit the screens on January 10, both in Telugu and Tamil simultaneously.

Ashok Vallabhaneni, who recently tastes success with Vijay’s Sarkar, has bought the film for a good price. “Yes, we are releasing the Telugu film along with the Tamil,” he confirms, adding that he is completely confident that it will be a success.

“Director Karthik Subbaraj had made this film on a grand scale and he is confident about its success. Plenty of the actors like Vijay Sethupathi and Nawazuddin Siddiqui are there as villains, and Trisha, Simran are also there,” says Ashok. According to a source, Ashok brought the Telugu rights for a whopping Rs 21 crore, which however is low compared to the earlier Rajanikanth film.

“Ashok maintains goodwill with Sun Pictures, the Tamil producers, so they prefer Ashok, though many came forward with higher amounts,” says the source. Ashok earlier released Sarkar too in Telugu. “He is getting good business deals in the Telugu states, and if he doesn’t like them, he is planning to release on his own,” added the source.

The confirmation on the film’s release will make the coming Sankranti festival a big one, especially for Telugu film lovers, with good box-office results expected.
