Perseverance paid off: Sriram Venu

Sriram Venu is relieved that his latest release and Nani-starrer Middle Class Abbayi (MCA) turned out to be successful at the box office. The filmmaker, who is back to helming a film after five years, says that hard work paid off.

“I came close to directing a couple of films last year too, but they did not materialise. I was feeling low and emotionally down. It was then that I started penning a fresh script for Nani. I persevered along with my writers and it eventually paid off," shares the director.

Acknowledging that he was under a fair bit of pressure to deliver a hit, the director says, “If the film did well, it would be a double hat-trick for the production house and that fact was playing subconsciously in my mind. I was a bit tense because I didn’t want to play the spoilsport. I was nervous yet confident about the film.”

Describing his low period, the director says, “I think the low taught me a lot and made me evolve as a filmmaker. I started watching more films, which inspired me to write the plot of this film (MCA). In fact, the story is inspired by the incidents in my personal life, and when my wife saw the film, she was pleasantly surprised. Even my brother appreciated the film.”
