Director Gopichand Malineni to test K-town waters?

No doubt, Telugu directors have gained some respect and credibility among Kollywood stars these days. After young director Vamsi Paidipally tasting big success with ‘Varisu’ with superstar Vijay, another happening Telugu director Gopichand Malineni is going to Tamil film industry and set to direct none-other-than Tamil superstar Ajith Kumar.

“Gopichand has narrated an action script to Ajith Kumar and it could go on floors very soon,” says a Chennai source, who claims that Gopichand would be replacing Tamil director Adik Ravichandran who made the hit movie ‘Mark Antony’. “With Ravi Teja film being put on hold, Gopichand has immediate dates to spare for Ajith who is gearing up to start his next after finishing his world tour on bike,” he adds.

Recently, Gopichand Malineni delivered a blockbuster ‘Veerasimha Reddy’ with Balakrishna and proved that he could handle star-centric films with ease. “Even Tamil stars check out previous films of Telugu directors before listening to scripts from them. Ajith prefers directors who blend action with emotion and Gopichand is good at it,” he adds.

Actually, Gopichand delivered big hits like ‘Don Sreenu’ and ‘Balupu’ with Ravi Teja and was planning to do another film with his favourite actor. “Gopi has to ready a good script and make an engaging film avoiding clichés and cringe scenes since Tamil audiences view films from Telugu directors with a different lens,” he concludes.
