Srikanth to reprise the role of Telangana CM
Actor Srikanth seems to be in a political state of mind with two interesting releases lined up. Talking about his upcoming film, Operation 2019, he says, “Elections are coming up in Telangana and my film is set against a political backdrop. It has a lot of satire and commentary on the current state of politics.”
The actor reveals that the film is about a regular, moral man with good ideologies who wants to serve people.
“He realises that will be possible if he joins politics, and the film tells the story of what happens to him thereafter,” he says.
Given that there is currently talk of an “Operation Garuda” going around the political circles of Andhra Pradesh, it’s very likely that Operation 2019 will grab people’s attention.
Meanwhile, Srikanth has also signed another political film called Telangana Devudu, which is said to be based on Kalvakuntla Chandrasekhar Rao’s (Chief Minsiter, Telangana State) life story.
The actor says, “The film is about Chandrasekar Rao’s life — from his childhood to him becoming the Chief Minister of Telangana, and I play Chandrasekhar Rao. I have watched so many videos of the leader and observed his body language, and I have had actor Uttej help me with my Telangana accent.”
But Srikanth’s character in the film isn’t called K. Chandrasekhar Rao though.
“My name in the film is Vijay Dev, and I don’t look like him either. But you will be able to identify aspects of Chandrasekhar Rao as well as other political leaders in my character,” he says.
The film directed by Harish has nearly been completed, and the makers are aiming for an early release date. “Just 10 days of shooting is remaining. We plan to release the film before the elections,” the actor reveals.
