Actor Ashwin Babu is only a couple of films old but he’s slowly finding his foothold in the industry. Up next, he is one of the leads in Nanna, Nenu, Naa Boyfriends in which he stars alongside Hebah Patel and he shares that he is happy with his character in the film. “It’s an interesting role of a simple, guy-next-door and his love story. I obviously cannot give you the details now, but can tell you that it’s going to be a fun, confusion comedy,” he reveals. The actor admits that he enjoys playing these kind of roles and wouldn’t mind being seen as the guy-next-door again.
Talking about his journey so far, the actor says, “I was supposed to debut as hero with Genius, but things didn’t work out. Jatha Kalisey and Raju Gaari Gadhi helped me explore two different sides of my acting abilities. I can't be happier.”
He may not have been around for long but Ashwin is content that he has already been complimented by ace director Rajamouli. “He had come for one of my films' events and he mentioned that he had seen Raju Gaari Gadhi and had loved my dance which is towards the end of the film. I was overwhelmed. Appreciation from such industry bigwigs can be rather motivating,” says the actor. Ashwin is the brother of well-known television anchor-turned-director Omkar.
Interestingly, the brothers are doctors who ventured into showbiz. “My brother was always interested. I remember how he moved to Hyderabad from Kakinada and juggled between his passion and career as a doctor. He is a great inspiration. Somewhere along the line, I tagged along. I always loved dancing. If not for my brother, I know I wouldn't be here,” he admits.
