We were the first with the news that Yatra (2019), a superhit film inspired by the padayatra by former Chief Minister of Andhra Pradesh Y.S. Rajasekhar Reddy, is likely to get a second instalment. A couple of days ago, director Mahi .V Raghav posted “July 8, 2023” on his Twitter handle. When we dug deeper into what he meant by that, we learned that the date is the birth anniversary of the late Rajasekhar Reddy. The makers are reportedly planning to announce Yatra 2 on that day.
“The film will focus on the political journey of Jagan (Rajasekhar Reddy’s son) and how the padayatra which he completed in 2019 before the State Assembly elections was instrumental in making him the Chief Minister,” a source tells us.
It is rumoured that Jiiva will play Jagan in the film. Meanwhile, pre-production work is in full swing.
