Sharwanand slaps legal notices against Sreekaram producers
Sharwanand hasn’t been fretting over the fact that his last film Sreekaram, which released on 11 March 2021, did not do well at the box office. However, the actor shocked everyone by slapping notices against the producers of the film — Ram Achanta and Gopi Achanta — over his pending remuneration.
Apparently, the producers had agreed to pay the actor a remuneration of Rs 6 crore before the film’s release apart from 50 per cent share in the film’s profits. The producers have, however, only paid Rs 4 crore to the actor before the film’s release, offering post-dated cheques for the remaining amount of Rs 2 crore.
When Sharwanand deposited the cheques recently, though, they bounced. The actor tried to reach out to the producers over the issue, but apparently none of them responded to his communications. Irked by their behaviour, Sharwanand decided to slap legal notices against the makers to claim his pending remuneration of Rs 2 crore. Ram and Gopi Achanta are yet to respond to these notices.
Meanwhile, a source close to the producers says that they haven’t yet been paid by the film’s distributors. “Moreover, soon after the film’s release, the second wave of pandemic struck and the subsequent lockdown happened. Additionally, the Movie Artistes Association (MAA) has also told all actors to take 20 percent in their remuneration. The producers are all game to resolve the issue amicably,” adds the source.
