Niharika Konidela is awaiting the release of her film Suryakantham. Yesteryear actress Suryakantham is renowned for her cruel roles as a mother-in-law on screen, and that is where the filmmakers have borrowed the title from.

“My character’s name is Kantham and I live on my own terms,” Niharika said about her character.

The actress said that although her previous two films did not do well, she does not want to hold on to the past. “I know that I’ve given it my best, so I don’t feel like thinking about the failures,” said the actress.

She also added that bad release timing could have contributed to the failure of those films. Well, except that Suryakantham is releasing while everybody is caught in the groove of the upcoming elections.

If I receive another offer, I will take it up.” The Oka Manasu star also revealed about how director Pranith Bramandapally decided on the title. She said that in a scene from a web series that they were working on some time ago, somebody happened to ask the actress’ father about her and apparently, her father said that his daughter was like Suryakantham.

“That’s how Pranith zeroed in on the title,” she said. Niharika said that she is going to campaign for her father Naga Babu, who is contesting from Bhimavaram. “Yes, I definitely want to campaign for my father and will do so after my film’s release,” she added. “I take my work seriously. If I am not interested in something, I don’t do it at all. And although people might think that I do not take my work seriously, there’s more to me than meets the eye,” the Happy Wedding actress concluded.
