A lyrical tribute to Rajinikanth

The lyrics for the mass number Dhummu Dhooli in Rajnikanth’s upcoming film Darbar are such that the first letter of three lines in the second half of the pallavi add up to read ‘Rajini’.

Anantha Sriram, who has penned the lyrics of song in Telugu, states that it was the filmmakers’ idea.

 

“This is an interesting attempt. Dhummu Dhooli is an experimental song and also happens to be the introduction song of Rajinikanth garu. It’s a mass number and the lyrics were to portray his energy while elevating his onscreen persona. And when someone like SP Balu sir croons it, it’s only logical to assume that the number will be an instant chartbuster,” explains Anantha Sriram.

Revealing that he penned this song in three days, the renowned lyricists — who has penned over a thousand lyrics, which reflect the real-life personality of the stars they are pictured on — talks about how easy it is working with them. “The bigger the star, the more humble they are,” he says.
