Adah Sharma will soon commence shooting non-stop for her next Telugu film under director Vipra, and she’s thrilled to be working during the pandemic. The shoot will be held in a forest.
But isn’t it scary, we ask. “I spoke to the producer Gouri Krishna and he promised me that all precautionary measures will be taken. From sanitising to social distancing to spraying disinfectants and thermal screening — everything will be in place on the set,” explains Adah.
“We are shooting with limited crew, so I feel we are following all the guidelines. But shooting in the middle of the forest amid the pandemic is exciting,” she says. “I am blessed to get the opportunity; it is definitely challenging, but since I have scenes where there aren’t too many people involved on screen, I feel we can shoot with all the precautionary measures,” she explains.
She is, however, tight-lipped about her role in the as yet untitled film. Adah is glad that her distinct roles in Hindi have been keeping her going.
“I play the role of a man in Abir Sengupta’s film, Man To Man, then I have a web series, the Commando Franchise, etc. So I thought since I have such a loyal audience in Telugu I must do some stuff in Tollywood too,” she says, adding that she decided to play roles that the audience think only she can do.
“What I realised is that my audiences in Hindi and Telugu are the same. They always appreciate me when I pick up interesting roles and that has been happening consistently in Hindi. And so I wanted to follow suit in Telugu as well,” explains the Kshanam star. “I have done one crazy Insta video and people have been raving about it. I thoroughly enjoyed it,” she beams, adding that she’s glad filmmakers are writing scripts for her.
“That’s one of the best things to have happened to me in my career. It’s a great sign. When filmmakers are writing roles for me, it means they want to cast me in interesting roles,” Adah says, clarifying that she is not choosy when it comes to Telugu films.
“I have been offered a few roles after my last film, Kalki (2019), but I had to skip them because those roles did not offer me anything new,” she shares.
