Sreemukhi is just back from a Goan holiday with her friends and family. “I had plans of going to Bali and other places last year, but then lockdown happened,” she says. Deciding to take a break, she set off to Goa. The actress says the vacation has helped rejuvenate her.

“The place I went to was a very secluded one. I chose it after a lot of research, as I wanted to enjoy some ‘me space’.  My mother, cousins and other friends also accompanied me. I got a much needed break, shares Sreemukhi, who will next be seen in the yet-to-be-titled remake of Andhadhun.

“I play the wife of a police officer. It’s an intense role. In fact, the script  has been tweaked a bit to suit the sensibilities of the Telugu audience,” she says.

“I liked the film, and I know that I need to be a bit bold for his role. But the reason I took it up was because it is a performance-oriented role,” she explains.

Posting random pictures and film updates, Sreemukhi has always been active on social media. “I have actually slowed down on posting these days due to my work. But I have realised that people are more interested to know my personal details and such details invite a lot of comment,” she smiles, and admits that there was a lot of criticism and trolling around her weight issues.

The Gentleman actress asserts that such trolling never affected her. “Weight issues never affected my work prospects; I keep getting offers. So if at all I have to be worried it is only from my health perspective. But I shall soon hit the gym,” she says, adding that she became mentally stronger after her Bigg Boss stint last year.

“I have learnt anger management, and started being stronger emotionally. Meeting people from different walks of life in Bigg Boss house also made me discover the hidden sides of the personality,” says the compere-turned-actress who feels glad that she is completing a decade in a male-dominated industry.

“When I initially came into the industry, I thought I could hang on for a few years; but I am grateful for the opportunities I got. I ascribe my longevity in the field to hard work and my approach to people and work. But there’s still a lot more to achieve,” she says, adding that as she goes forward, she wants to balance television and cinema.

Recently, on the eve of Valentine’s Day, Sreemukhi had said she would be announcing some great news. Naturally, the expectation was that she would reveal the name of her beau. But she announced a new work assignment.

“Ever since I started hosting Pataas TV show, people have been constantly asking me about my boyfriend, marriage, etc. so I wanted to give a teaser alert,” quips Sreemukhi.

“I am currently single and happy. I am not prepared for marriage; I want to work for three or four years more and get married when I turn 31,” she says.

Talking about what she is looking for in a partner, she says, “I want a guy who is caring and pampering. Also, I want a guy who is very active like me and gives me my space.”
