Ram Gopal Varma angers Ayyappa devotees
They said that a character wearing an Ayyappa mala' was shown killing a person which was against the rigorous deeksha of Lord Ayyappa.
Hyderabad: Ayyappa devotees from Kushaiguda approached the police against Ram Gopal Verma’s new film Vangaveeti alleging defamation.
Ayyappa devotees S. Kiran Kumar, V. Ashok and V. Vijay lodged a complaint seeking action against the director for showing Ayyappa devotees as assassins in the film.
They said that a rowdy character wearing an ‘Ayyappa mala’ was shown killing a person which was against the rigorous deeksha of Lord Ayyappa.
Kushaiguda police inspector N. Venkat Ramana said a case was yet to be booked in the matter. “It’s a non-cognisable offence. We have started an inquiry,” the inspector said.
