Saptagiri’s next venture as lead actor is Sapthagiri LLB, a remake of Bollywood film Jolly LLB. His previous film Sapthagiri Express was well-received too.
Ask the actor why he chose a remake film in his second outing, he shares, “My first film (as a lead actor) Sapthagiri Express has a social message and showcases the suffering of constables. I loved Jolly LLB. It has a good social message and so I decided to remake it in Telugu.”
He adds, “I came to the industry to become a director. I worked as an assistant director for handful of films. During that time, I used to think about several socially inclined-scripts, which I wanted to direct. But with time, I became a comedian and later a lead actor.”
As a part of the prep for his role, the actor spoke to a few lawyers. “I met lawyers and judges to understand the various areas of law so that I could get them right,” reveals the actor, who feels Sapthagiri LLB will strike a chord at the box office.
Having turned into a lead actor, does he think he’s taking a risk? “Naturally, the hero has to shoulder a film. But as an actor, I love doing versatile roles. While I will continue to do hero roles, I am also simultaneously doing comic roles. So I am learning to strike a balance between these two jobs (protagonist and a comedian). I don’t compare myself with other actors, instead focus on my job. I guess I have considerable experience to take the risk of being a lead actor.”
