In a change from the scenic beaches and nightlife of Goa that are usually celebrated on the silver screen, an upcoming Telugu film, Dear Megha, has been shot at the oldest railway station there. Director Sushanth Reddy says the romantic entertainer is the first south film to be shot at the Pernem vintage railway station.
“There is an episode in the film where the lead pair (Megha Akash and Arun Adith) travel from Goa to Mumbai, and spend time at one station en route. When we were doing the recce for locations, our producer Arjun Dasyan was told by our Goa coordinator about the Pernem railway station. After visiting the station, we were convinced that it would be a great location to shoot because of its rich history,” explains the director, adding that the train episode is one of the highlights of the film.
The makers shot for four days at the railway station. The director says his film, which is scheduled to be released on September 3, also showcases the interiors of Goa. “We have tapped unseen locations and the rustic side of Goa too. The protagonist’s film mother runs a rehabilitation centre in a village, so we identified several locations in the interiors and shot there too,” he says, exuding confidence that the film strikes a chord with the audiences.
