Rana Daggubati to play Hiranyakasipa
We had mentioned that Venkatesh may be roped in to play the lead role in a mythological film Hiranyakasipa, directed by Gunasekhar. But the latest update is that Rana Daggubati has signed the mighty mythological role.
“After the release of Baahubali 2: The Conclusion, director Gunasekhar met the actor and narrated the story. Rana showed enthusiasm and immediately accepted it. In fact, the discussion between Rana and Gunasekhar has been on since the last two months as the film needs a lot of pre-production work,” says a source.
“The director and his team have been working on the script and have decided to give ample time to the pre-visualisation spending Rs10 crore on graphics,” says another source from the production house.
Interestingly, Rana roped in many international technicians to work on the project. “The entire world is looking at Indian cinema now after Baahubali, and this mythological drama is also based on a unique subject. So the makers decided to make it on par with Hollywood. The director is going to present the subject in a modern way with visual grandeur,” says the source.
Apparently, Venkatesh will be seen in another project that also requires a lot of technical work. “Venky’s film is different and is a complete social drama set in a forest backdrop. The subject needs lot of graphics too,” the source adds. This is why when Suresh Babu had announced that Venky’s next film would have a lot of graphical elements, everyone presumed that he was talking about Hiranyakasipa. However, for Gunasekhar’s film, Rana is the perfect fit as he has already proved his potential in Baahubali.
