Nandamuri Balakrishna, who is known for dabbling with different themes, joined hands with legendary director Singeetam Srinivasa Rao for ‘Bhairava Dweepam’ in 1994, to create a sensation at the box office back then. Now, the folklore drama is getting re-released on August 5, 2023. To bring back this evergreen classic to the new generation audience, Claps Infotainment is releasing the film in upgraded 4K quality.
Nandamuri Scion portrayed the role of Vijay, an abandoned prince who grows up in a tribe to become a brave man. He falls in love with the Princess of Karthikeya Kingdom, Roja (Padmavathi) who is being summoned by an evil wizard with black magic to an island 'Bhairava Dweepam' to sacrifice her before the Goddess and rule the universe. How Vijay fights evil forces and rescues Roja forms the crux of the story which boasts off many twists and turns.
The magical story was penned by Raavi Kondala Rao and it was astonishingly presented on screen by the legendary director Singeetam Srinivasa Rao, who also penned the taut screenplay. Music composed by Madhavapeddi Suresh was another hallmark of the movie. It bagged nine Nandi Awards along with humongous box-office numbers.
