I feel like a newcomer, says Ronit Roy

Ronit Roy, who will be seen in his first ever South Indian film, Jai Lava Kusa, says it's a challenge he's glad to take up.

Ever since it was announced that actor Ronit Roy, a well-known name in Hindi television and cinema, is set to debut in Tollywood with Jr NTR’s Jai Lava Kusa, there has been a great deal of anticipation. In fact, a look at Ronit’s Twitter timeline will show his replies to several congratulatory messages. While the actor has got a legion of fans himself, we ask him how this reception has been for him. “I live without expectations of any kind. Hence, when such things happen, I feel extremely fortunate and blessed. I would like to respond to all the fans individually but due to lack of time I couldn’t!” he shares.

But the response has actually given him food for thought. “This brings the realisation of how loved Jr NTR is and it gladdens my heart to be making my debut in the South with such a loved and respected person,” he reflects, as he adds, “And while working with him, I realise he isn’t just an amazing human being but also a very focussed individual. It’s such a pleasure to be a part of this film.”

Having acted for over three decades now, Ronit reveals that this film makes him feel like a newcomer. “...Which I technically am in Telugu! New people, new language and a new arena. I have had no exposure to Telugu whatsoever and it’s something quite exciting to try. I was offered a few films down South before but never took up anything. I accepted Jai Lava Kusa based on my gut instinct. It’s a new challenge and I am glad I took it up,” he states.

Ronit began shooting for Jai Lava Kusa a few days ago. In fact, he recently shared his look from the film. While it is now known that he plays the prime antagonist, the actor himself doesn’t reveal much. However, when asked if there are apprehensions as he steps into a new arena, he shares that he is curious.

“Every day is like a search for something new. I am working on this film now and I don’t know how it will eventually shape up. I am positive though, and have no apprehensions. In fact, I am very curious about how the character will shape up and how it will be received,” he signs off.
