Uyyalawada team focuses on aesthetics

Director Surender Reddy and his team are leaving no stone unturned to ensure the authenticity of their period film.

Chiranjeevi’s next film, the biopic of Telugu freedom fighter Uyyalawada Narasimha Reddy, is set to go on the floors in August. While a lot of research has already been done, the makers are now doing a great deal of study to get the aesthetics of the time period right. Interestingly, very few films were made in India during the same time period.

“This is a very important project for all of them and prestigious too, as it is the story of the first Telugu freedom fighter. Obviously, they do not want to get anything wrong,” shares a source, adding, “Director Surender Reddy is putting together a team to ensure everything is done right. While the actors will have their own set of stylists, he wants everyone to be in sync with each other and with the times. The fabrics used for the dresses and the style of clothing will all be carefully designed.”

Apparently, it has been tough to gather exact details about the clothing donned during the time. “History in South India isn’t well-documented, especially visually. So the team found it tough to find reference points for several structures and dress styles of those times,” shares a source.

The project has been an ambitious one for Chiranjeevi. After dawdling over it for several years, work finally began under director Surender Reddy and the makers are leaving no stone unturned to ensure that they get the look of all the prime characters right. Also, the locations of the shoot will be very carefully crafted.
