Baahubali fails summer test

The makers decided to take a 45-day break as shooting has become impossible in the scorching heat.

Like the rest of India, our film stars too are not immune to the scorching heat. With the mercury soaring to alarming levels in the past few weeks, shooting for several films, including S.S. Rajamouli’s Baahubali — The Conclusion, has been postponed.

As the temperatures have been touching 45ºC degrees in the two states, Rajamouli has decided to give a 45-day break to the Baahubali crew. Shooting for the film is going on at RFC and the schedule will continue till this month end. “The producer and the director decided to give a break from May 1 to June 15 because of the summer,” says a source from the unit, adding that currently they are only shooting scenes of Prabhas, Anushka and a few others and “not many junior artistes are at the shooting now”

During the break, Rajamouli will take his family to Australia while Prabhas will head to the US. Producer Shobhu Yarlagadda too is planning to go abroad for a long vacation.

Despite the long break, the team is confident that they will meet the deadline of April 14, 2017 as some of the important scenes have already been shot.

Given the scorching heat, it has become impossible to shoot under the high intensity lights. This is more so for this period film as hundreds of junior artistes and technicians, apart from the stars, are needed for almost every scene.

The leading ladies Anushka and Tamannaah too are finding it very difficult as they have to wear heavy make-up, jewellery and costumes for the shoot.

Meanwhile Suriya’s sequel to the Singam series, SIII, directed by Hari is in the final schedule. Reportedly, the unit needs to wrap up in a week. Being a cop story involving a lot of action, many of the scenes had to be shot outdoors under the hot sun, says production assistant Raja.

“We somehow managed a long schedule in Vizag. Now, we have shifted to Nellore and are shooting only at night,” he adds.

Meanwhile...
A few other films are braving the scorching sun and the blistering heat to finish their shooting schedules on time:

Mahesh Babu’s Brahmotsavam is still being shot at RFC in the city, with only a few days of shooting needed to be completed.

Shooting is on at Saradhi Studios for Jr NTR’s upcoming Janatha Garage, since the makers of the film have promised an August 2016 release for the movie.

Ram Charan’s as yet untitled film (which is a remake of the Tamil hit Thani Oruvan) is going on in the city.
