Telugu consortium buys Salaar rights in AP, Telangana

Despite flops like Radhe Shyam' and Adipurush,' the craze for Prabhas hasn't subsided since he is teaming up with ace director Prashanth Neel

Reigning star Prabhas upcoming film 'Salaar' has triggered a lot of buzz around the world and the makers were quoting high prices. “A consortium was formed by Telugu distributors and they bought the rights for two Telugu states,” says a source and adds, ”They bought it for Rs 150 crores and it is highest for a Telugu movie in recent times,” he informs

Actually, Prabhas' earlier movie ‘Adipurush’ was traded for Rs 120 in the two Telugu states and People Media Factory bought the rights and released the mythological film in a big way. “Now, Mythri Movie Makers have bought the rights of ‘Salaar’ for the Nizam area and they are going to test their luck since it was bought for over Rs 60 crore and it would be a challenging task ahead, provided the film draws sensational openings,” he adds.

Despite flops like ‘Radhe Shyam’ and ‘Adipurush,’ the craze for Prabhas hasn’t subsided since he is teaming up with ace director Prashanth Neel for ‘Salaar’ and he is known for his humongous hit ‘KGF series’. “Prabhas and Prashanth Neel are a heady combination since the director is known for making action adventures and boosts heroism to the next level,” he points out.

The film largely depends on sensational day one and weekend openings from December 22(date of its release) to make Rs 80 to 90 crores to make it safer for Telugu buyers. “Now-a-days, openings are crucial to recover big investments and also 30 per cent is recoverable in this deal. It means that the producer has to pay back Rs 30 crores if the film doesn’t cross the Rs 150 crore mark, so Telugu buyers are a bit safe in this deal,” he concludes.
