Will The Conclusion' spell The End'?

With its first look released, Baahubali 2 needs to live up to its prequel. But will it be a victim of its own ambitions?

The first look of Baahubali 2 has been unveiled and now begins the actual struggle to live up to the hysterical expectations generated by the first film. The reports look encouraging — at least for the producers, who have apparently hiked the film’s price by nearly double, sending distributors and promoters — even such as the likes of Karan Johar — reeling.

A source close to the development says, “The producers are hell-bent on milking the Baahubali craze, especially since the director Rajamouli has declared that he won’t be stretching the plot to a third film.”

Apparently, Karan Johar, who has bought the Hindi rights of Baahubali is not too enthused by the price he is being asked to pay for the sequel. “Karan may not patronise Baahubali 2 at all. It will depend on how Ae Dil Hai Mushkil fares at the box office. At the moment, he can’t afford what the producers want for Baahubali 2,” says a source.

Interestingly the lead actor Prabhas and the film’s main antagonist Rana Dagubatti have been offered no major Bollywood films post Baahubali. Sources at Yashraj Films completely deny reports last year of Prabhas being offered Dhoom 4. “Dhoom 4 is not even scripted yet, so where is the question of casting Prabhas or any other actor?” asks a source close to Yashraj.
