A political flavour

Vijay Deverakonda's upcoming film NOTA will portray many incidents from Indian politics.

All eyes are on the Vijay Deverakonda-starrer NOTA, which will hit the screens on October 5. Directed by Anand Shankar, the film has Mehreen as the female lead. “It’s set with a political backdrop but at the same time, there is also family drama,” says producer Gnanavel Raja.

Vijay Deverakonda plays the Chief Minister’s son in the film while Sathyaraj is the Opposition leader. “The story revolves around two brothers and a conflict between them,” explains Gnanavel.

The producer says they have taken care not to hurt anyone’s sensibilities. “There are many incidents that are inspired from Andhra politics. Tamil Nadu Chief Minister Jayalalithaa’s hospitalisation is also shown. But we didn’t hurt anyone nor have we used the original names in the film,” says Gnanavel, who adds the film has snippets from the lives of late NTR and the present CM Chandrababu Naidu.

The producer says the audience can relate to many incidents that have happened in South Indian politics. “The film has been adapted from a Tamil novel, the rights of which we have bought,” the producer concludes.
