On Sunday, actor Vijay Deverakonda hosted K.T. Rama Rao, IT minister of Telangana state at his home for lunch. “When I received the award for the Best Actor, I decided to give it to the CMRF (Chief Minister’s Relief Fund) instead of putting it on a shelf in my house. Acting has already given me so much,” says Vijay, whose gesture did not go unnoticed by KTR.
“I follow KTR a lot, and he has released money from the CMRF to help many people, so I wanted to auction my award and donate the money towards it,” says the actor.

Vijay is all praise for KTR’s down-to-earth nature. “I invited him for lunch to my home and he merely asked me to WhatsApp my address to him,” says the actor, adding, “My mother prepared a big feast. And even as we were expecting a convoy of cars and security, KTR anna arrived in his car. We spoke about various topics over lunch, including politics, our families, KCR garu, history, social causes and handlooms,” shares the actor, adding that the minister admitted to enjoying spicy food.
KTR reportedly told Vijay to hand over the amount to the Chief Minister once the auction was done. “Although I requested him to be present at that time, he told me that he didn’t want to politicise the event, and simply advised me to do the auction and hand over the amount to the CM,” Vijay reveals.
