Politics plays a villain

With celebs showing their support for individual parties ahead of the elections, the industry stands divided.

The Telugu film industry is split wide open, with most of the film personalities joining political parties for the upcoming elections. Actor Pawan Kalyan recently criticised the Telangana government for harassing people in Hyderabad who are supporting his party in Andhra Pradesh, earning the ire of writer Chinni Krishna, who condemned Pawan Kalyan for his comments on the TRS Government.

Meanwhile, actors like Prudhvi and Posani Krishna Murali are openly criticising the Telugu Desam Party and supporting YSRCP.

Interestingly, Chiranjeevi, who is in the Congress party, has not yet stated whether he wants to continue with the Congress or support his brother Pawan Kalyan.

According to a source, TRS Minister Talasani Srinivas Yadav has told a few film people to campaign for the YSR Congress Party and has even asked them to hold a press meet to speak against Pawan and the TDP.

In other developments, Naga Babu is contesting for the Lok Sabha from his brother’s party while Sivaji Raja has joined the YSRCP. Meanwhile, Ram Charan’s fan page on Instagram and Twitter is vigorously promoting his uncle Pawan’s speeches.

Even some of the producers like Ashwini Dutt and Murali Mohan are supporting the TDP, while others like PVP are supporting the YSRCP. Will this rivalry quell after the elections or will it cause a rift forever? Only time will tell.
