Ever since Mahanati, the biopic of legendary actress Savitri was announced, there’s been great anticipation around the film.
Starring Keerthy Suresh in the titular role, the film was to hit the screens in summer, with the release date announced as March 29. But with the film’s post-production taking a while, the makers have decided to push the release.
Sources from the unit suggest that a great deal of CG work has yet to be done on the film and that the makers are keen to do it at a pace that will not hamper its quality.
“Though the release date has been announced, it is possible that more time will be needed to wrap up everything with perfection. The team doesn’t want to hurry up just to meet the deadline. They are now considering releasing the film sometime in May,” shares the source, adding that no announcement will be made till it’s known when the release might happen.
Directed by Nag Ashwin, the film is a multi-starrer with the who’s who of the South Indian film industry roped in to play key roles.
