Sai Dharam Tej trounces Balayya

While Sai Dharam Tej’s (SDT) Prathi Roju Pandage is having a dream box office run, Balakrishna’s Ruler has turned out to be a disaster.

Tollywood saw two notable releases last weekend — Balakrishna’s Ruler and Sai Dharam Tej’s Prathi Roju Pandage (PRP). But it was PRP which had the last laugh at the box office.

Directed by Maruthi, PRP talks about drifting relationships in a modern scenario. The film seems to be basking in the glory of positive word of mouth. What worked for the family drama was the way it was packaged overall. “PRP is undoubtedly Sai Dharam Tej’s biggest hit till date, grossing around

Rs 23 crore. With no big-ticket releases around the corner, the film turns out to be a money spinner at the box office,” says a trade analyst, adding that the film also gave a good break to the director.

On the other hand, Balakrishna’s Ruler turns out to be a colossal flop. Although Balayya transformed himself totally, lack of novelty and a stereotypical plot marred this K.S. Ravikumar directorial at the box office.
