Disha Patani to replace Shruti Haasan?
Amid several actresses being considered to play the warrior princess Sanghamithra, following the exit of Shruti Haasan, it looks like Disha Patani has bagged the role. Sources in the know reveal that the actress is a strong contender for the historical drama to be helmed by C. Sunder.
“The makers have been in talks with her for a while now. She has shown interest in the film since it will see her play the title role, alongside giving her a chance to unleash a new side of her talent with the action sequences and the elaborate period episodes. Disha is quite keen to be a part of the film,” says a source in the know.
An official announcement about the decision is likely to be made soon after Disha signs on the dotted line.
To be made on a large scale in Telugu and Tamil simultaneously, the film- makers also have plans to take the film to Hindi audiences, albeit with a different cast. The present project will star Arya and Jayam Ravi in lead roles. Interestingly, the film, which was officially launched at the Cannes Film Festival earlier this year, will have music by A.R. Rahman.
