Jayam Ravi's space sojourn

The actor also decided to come down to Hyderabad to promote the film

It’s not often that the South Indian audience get to witness a space film. But now that it’s happening, with Jayam Ravi’s Tik Tik Tik, there surely is a sense of curiosity.

In fact, much before the film went on floors, the decision-making process around it involved a great deal of thought and apprehension as the makers wanted to bring forth a film that wouldn’t just be different, but would also entertain and satiate viewers.

At the same time, while Ravi is a very well-known name in Kollywood — having starred in the Tamil remakes of several blockbuster Telugu films — he has started taking baby steps in Tollywood now. The actor also decided to come down to Hyderabad to promote the film, which seems to be a trend at the moment as Suriya also celebrated Sankranti in the Telugu states ahead of his film Gang’s release.

Speaking about Tik Tik Tik, Ravi seems excited. “Of course, it’s something new I have taken up and interesting scripts always leave you happy. In fact, when director Soundar Rajan came to me with the idea, I was pretty thrilled even though many thought this film wouldn’t be a good move,” he shares.

While Ravi understands that there will be comparisons aplenty with international space-themed films in terms of quality, he states, “Comparisons are inevitable but on our part, we’ve left no stone unturned to ensure the best quality. More than five months were spent only on the VFX. Also, a great deal of pre-production work was involved to get the best output.”

Notably, the film also sees his six-year-old son making his acting debut. “There was a brief role for a young boy and when we asked Aarav, he readily agreed to be a part of it,” he reveals.

On a parting note, we ask Ravi about the decision to promote the film in Telugu, and he shares, “The Telugu audience seem to love variety and are accepting of new kinds of films. We felt this film must definitely be brought to them.”
